Do you envision a Bengaluru where an inclusive and interdisciplinary community works together to achieve a OneHealth vision for our city?
We intend to establish a framework for monitoring, predicting, and responding to health burdens for public health decisions in urban and peri-urban Bengaluru. To do this, we need to develop a roadmap to define OneHealth from a localized socio-cultural and scientific perspective. We then plan to test these concepts in a ward-specific pilot project in Bengaluru.
On October 11, 2022 the echo network hosted a brainstorming workshop that brought representatives from academic, private, and public organizations and companies in Bengaluru together to identify the:
human, animal, and environmental health components of focus for Bengaluru.
stakeholders for these components who must be coordinated to establish a OneHealth monitoring system.
types of information and data that are already, or need to be gathered for such a system.
On September 15, 2023 the echo network and Initiative for Climate Action conducted another expert consultation workshop as a follow-up to the above workshop titled, Pathways to a Dengue-free Ward:
To identify key information pathways in an envisioned dengue-free ward
To prepare strategies for implementation in Ward 50, Bangalore
To incorporate these pathways to develop a large communications exchange platform
Below we have summarized the results of the 2 workshops in 2 categories: Stakeholder Map and Information Map. Outputs generated from the Stakeholder Map are from the first workshop held in 2022 and serve as inputs for the Information Map from the recent workshop conducted in Sept 2023.
The Information Map displays knowledge/information/services generated by 5 categories (Social Behavioral Awareness, Outbreak Monitoring, Health Ecology, Disease Diagnosis, Ecosystem Funding) and how the inward and outward information flows (indicated by arrows) feed into or receive from each category.
We present this as both a graphical mind map and a table for your viewing. Both formats show the same information.
Please view the outputs of the workshop and add your comments below in the form to tell us about missing components, stakeholders, or information.
Your participation is vital to ensure the diverse viewpoints needed to realise these goals for our city.
