The study of art within City Semester took on a new approach this year. The students were divided into three groups. Each group was assigned a decade: 1930, 1970, or 1980. Every 4-5 weeks the groups rotated to a different section within their decade. Each rotation was team-taught by two faculty members, examining two different art forms. The disciplines were Dance/Movement Studies, Photography/Performance Art, Theater, Writing, Music, and Film. At the conclusion of each rotation, students created unique pieces of art, influenced by the ideas, forms, processes, political/historical/social issues of their decade and the present.
