Overview

Initiated in 2003 by local Canossian girls with a vision of making the world a better place, Canossian Global Youth Conference (CGYC) is a biennial conference which aims at promoting global awareness of social issues whilst nurturing future leaders who cherish Global Perspective with Local Initiatives in the Canossian Spirit. The Conference is held in Hong Kong and students of Canossian institutions all over the world are invited to join. The 5-day event brings together bright and aspiring youths for both exchanges of views and culture through a series of activities including talks, exposure and presentations.

Canossian Global Youth Conference 2015 is jointly organised by Sacred Heart Canossian College and St Mary’s Canossian College of Hong Kong and continues to receive support from various fields in the community and alumnae delegates.

To nurture bright and conscientious leaders, with the readiness to embrace harmony in all forms of diversity, such as cultural diversity and racial diversity, as well as to take concrete actions for the betterment of the local community, we have the following target outcomes:

1. Canossian youths all over the world strengthen their bonds and build up a better world for everyone in the unity of the Canossian Spirit.

2. Participants increase their awareness and concerns towards global issues and show increased commitment to the community.

3. Participants develop their critical and lateral thinking through exchanging ideas from different perspectives.

4. Participants from different cultures appreciate the uniqueness of each other.

5. Participants gain a deeper understanding about poverty in different parts of the world.

All CGYC participants will pledge to work for the betterment of their local communities and share their initiatives with one another.
