Effective citing and referencing from IB

At ECA, MLA is the expected referencing style for all subjects, however, for the IB Diploma programme, some departments might select a different style.

MLA - Modern Language Association Used in - All Languages A & B, Economics, Visual Arts, World Studies This is the style with "author" -- and "page number" (if relevant).

In-text citation example:

Scientists have proved that mice can sing (Mice Research). But others disagree (Smith, Brown, and Kaser 135).

APA - American Psychological Association

Used in - Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics. This is the style with "author" and "date" -- and "page number" (if relevant).

In-text citation example:

Scientists have proved that mice can sing ("Mice Research," 2012). But others disagree (Smith, Brown, & Kaser, 2013, p. 135).

CMS - Chicago Manual of Style

This is the "footnotes" style. Used in - History

In-text citation example:

Scientists have proved that mice can sing.1 But others disagree.2
