White Hills Back To School Document
Virtual Learning Procedures
Full Virtual Learning Plan- All students would participate in the learning of new material, continued standard pacing, interactive lessons, graded assignments, and assessments virtually. This will be enacted if the Governor’s Executive Order closes schools again due to health concerns. (If we have outbreaks of COVID-19, we may enact individual classroom closures instead of school-wide closures.)
Classroom Expectations
Class Codes – Each teacher gave the children a lanyard with their password/user name/badge. Teachers also gave google classroom codes.
Modeling Of School Procedures in Accordance with CDC Guidelines
Temperature Checks
Temperature checks will be done as students arrive via carpool or bus, and after 4-5 hours on campus, as well as at the sign of any other Coronavirus symptoms. Individuals who have a fever of 100.4°F or above, or other signs of illness, will not be admitted to the facility.
Masks
EBR will provide washable masks for staff and students in grades 3-5. Adults and students (3rd grade and up) should wear face coverings, as able, to the maximum extent possible. Any child over age two may wear a face covering. Face coverings should be worn in all areas of the school. This includes classrooms. Most importantly, face coverings should be worn during arrival, dismissal, and any other transition within the school building. Individuals with severe breathing difficulties should not wear face coverings.
Social Distancing
Students will maintain physical distance of six feet in classroom/indoor settings to the maximum extent possible.
Arrival & Dismissal
Carpool
1. Students will enter and exit in a single-file line to enable physical distance.
2. The auditorium back door will be the established entry point during morning arrival and will be the exit point for dismissal to enable the flow of students to move in a single direction.
3. Hygiene stations will be located at the entry point so students can clean their hands before they enter.
4. Parents are encouraged to drive their children to school, if possible. This will reduce student numbers on buses.
5. Please be patient! This process may take a few minutes.
Bus
1. Buses will operate at 25 percent of their normal capacity in Phase 1, 50 percent of their normal capacity during Phase 2, and 75 percent of their normal capacity during Phase 3, with appropriate spacing.
2. EBR will attempt to space and disperse passengers to the maximum extent possible.
3. Transportation staff will follow safety and hygiene protocols.
4. The risks associated with student transportation on school buses has not been studied to date. As a result, these recommendations are derived from school operating procedures and the best “reasonable standard” given feasibility constraints.
5. For bus stops, students should maintain social distance to avoid congregating in groups while waiting for the bus.
6. We will stagger loading/unloading buses to minimize student group size as they enter the school building to allow six feet of distance.
7. High-touch surfaces, including seats and handrails, will be cleaned after each group’s use. The bus should be cleaned at least once per day per route.
Check in/check outs
1. Check-Out: Parents should pull up by the office and call the front office. Please be prepared to answer identifying information. All students will be brought to the car to prevent the number of visitors in the office. Please be prepared to complete checkout form which includes your photo ID. We will not allow checkouts after 2:45 pm. Any checkout after 2:45 pm will need to be picked up through the carpool, beginning at 3:20 pm.
2. Late Check-In: All students should be brought to front office after 8:25. Children are late after 8:30. Pull up by the office and call the front office. A duty person will come to the car and have you sign your child in. This is to limit the number of parents in the office.
**Please note: Breakfast ends at 8:25 am and students are tardy at 8:30 am**
Restroom
Students will go to the restroom one at a time. Students will not go to the restroom as a class. A schedule has been created for the times each classroom will be able to use the restroom.
Hand Washing
Signage will be installed to encourage good practices. Example: Wash hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60 percent alcohol can be used, but not as a substitute for cleaning hands with soap and water. Hand washing protocols and sanitation procedures will be frequently being worked into the instructional day. Students and teachers will have scheduled hand washing with soap and water or hand sanitizer every two hours as well as times found in CDC guidance including at arrival, before and after using outdoor play equipment, when changing classrooms, and at dismissal. Teachers should wash their hands or use sanitizer each time before leaving a room and upon entering a new location. Students, teachers and cafeteria staff should wash hands before and after every meal.
Breakfast & Lunch
Classrooms may be utilized for eating breakfast and/or lunch. Students may bring food from home. If the cafeteria is used, meal times for each group will be staggered, to adhere to maximum group size and ensure six feet of distance between students to the maximum extent possible. Disposable utensils will be used.
Water Bottles
Students will be encouraged to bring water bottles as shared water fountains will be closed.
School Visitors
Visitors will not be allowed in the school building except under extenuating circumstances, and EBR will provide disposable face masks for visitors that fall under the “extenuating circumstances” umbrella. Adults entering the building should wash or sanitize hands prior to entering. Visitors should park in the front parking lot, call the front office, and we will do our best to assist you while limiting contact as much as possible.
EBR’s Contribution to School Safety
Providing Plexiglass Sneeze Guards for Reception Areas
Hand Sanitizer for Each Classroom
Oxivir one-minute dwell time sanitizing wipes
Sanitizer for school buses
Signage with basic guidance reminders from the state DOE and Health Department describing sanitizing, disinfecting, and cleaning procedures.
White Hills will display COVID-19 informational signs in highly visible locations (e.g., school entrances, restrooms) that promote everyday protective measures and describe how to stop the spread of germs, such as by properly washing hands and properly wearing a cloth face covering.
Recess
Playground equipment and athletic equipment will be cleaned with high frequency. Groups will be separated outdoors to limit the number of students in a group.
Aramark Sanitation Procedures
Frequently touched surfaces will undergo cleaning with a commercially available cleaning solution, including EPA-approved disinfectants or a diluted bleach solution, multiple times throughout the day. This includes:
Light switches, doors, benches, bannisters and bathroom fixtures.
Surfaces and objects in libraries, labs and other settings where “hands-on” materials and equipment are used.
Student desks, which will be cleaned before and after each student’s use.
School Uniforms and Spirit Shirts
White Hills follows the district’s uniform policy
K-5: Navy blue bottoms and a maroon polo
Note: White Hills spirit shirts may be worn on Fridays only with the approved
bottoms.
School Supplies
Each student will be required to have their own pencil bag to reduce sharing of supplies. If you did not purchase, we will have them at the school, but you are welcome to provide the best for your child. When children are at school daily school supplies need to stay at school.
Faculty & Student Illnesses
White Hills will monitor students and staff for symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath or sore throat, etc.
Students who are sick should stay home (regardless of illness).
An isolation room for sick children will provide the safest possible solution for minimizing excess contact. The student must be picked up by a parent or guardian.
There will be no nurse or CNA on campus every day. The isolation room will be supervised by in the event that an illness has been reported.
The student is to quarantine for 14 days or return after 5 days with a negative test result.
Chromebook Check-Out Procedures
White Hills will have a 1:1 student ratio for devices (laptops or tablets) and internet connectivity for every student in grades Pre-K - 5th grade.
Tablets - Kindergarten
Chromebooks - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Students
Students who were issued Chromebooks in April will keep the devices. We will only check out to those who do not have a device.
Parents must sign up for a date and time to check out devices, if needed.
