I'm Ms. Hayes. I was born in Hammond and raised here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I have been immersed in music for my entire life, and my primary instrument is Voice. I was fortunate to have exercised my love for the arts at Baton Rouge Center for Visual and Performing Arts (BRCVPA), Sherwood Middle Academic Magnet School (SMAMS), and Baton Rouge Magnet High School (BRMHS). While attending SMAMS, I played violin under the direction of James Eliason and continued for a year under the direction of Christopher Frazier at BRMHS. I then shifted my focus to Vocal Performance, Dance, and Piano. In addition to dancing and music-making, I also enjoy traveling and spending time with my family. I obtained my degree in Music Education at Louisiana State University (LSU). While studying at LSU, I gained teaching experience through fieldwork and by working as a General Music teaching artist for Kids' Orchestra and Camp Theodore. I am excited to inspire and learn from my students and colleagues by sharing my gifts. My promise to my students is that I will challenge them, see them, and uplift everything they are in music.
Artistically yours,
Ms. Summer Hayes
