How to be successful in dance class

  • Be on time and present in class every day. Daily practice is necessary if you wish to improve your strength, coordination and flexibility in dance.

  • Dress out for each class session. The proper dance attire is very important for class. It helps students to avoid damaging their school uniforms by wearing the wrong material when executing various movement, stretching and dance progressions.

  • Have a water bottle near by

  • Wear hair pulled back away from face

  • Do not wear jewelry in class. Dancing with jewelry in class is very unsafe and can cause unnecessary accidents.

  • Be responsible, reliable and respectful. Respect your teacher, your classmates and yourself.

  • Use restroom before class

  • No gum or snacks during class. You must have permission to eat snacks.

  • Participate in class. Your personal contribution to the class is very important.

  • No side chatting in class.

  • Practice on your own. You can improve and build upon your skills tremendously by practicing at least five minutes a day.

  • Embrace your dance education with an open mind and positive attitude.

The class goal is to nurture the artist and athlete in every student. By this we use exercises and activities that may be very different from what you’ve experienced; however, they are established to help cultivate the art form of dance. Maintaining an open mind and abandoning self judgment will be the best way to approach your dance education ensuring substantial growth and development in skill and technique.
