Accelerated Reader (AR)

Independent Reading

Students will take a Star test every 9 weeks to monitor reading progress.

Students are required to read independently. We will visit the library as a class throughout the nine weeks period to allow students to check out books. Students may also read books that are on level that were purchased, checked out from a public library, or may read ebooks on Mackinvia

Reading Logs: Students receive reading logs each week. Reading logs should be completed by students and signed each week by a parent/guardian. A copy of the reading log can be found in Google Classroom.

AR Test: 

• Students must reach their AR goal and have 85% accuracy to receive full credit for AR. Accelerated reader is a 50 point grade each nine weeks. 

• Students are only allowed to test in their ELA class and are only allowed to take ONE AR test per day. Students can test as soon as they have completed reading a book.
