Class overview

ELA encompasses reading and writing. We will be using MyPerspectives as our tier one curriculum. As 8th graders, we will read both informational and literary texts from 4 units that explores engaging essential questions:

• Rites of Passage- What are some milestones on the path growing up?

• The Holocaust - How do we remember the past?

• What Matters- When is it right to take a stand?

• Human Intelligence- In what different ways can people be intelligent?

Each unit will require students to analyze text, cite evidence, and respond critically as we tackle various types of genres.
