Important Policies

Late Work - The 6th grade team is dedicated to the success of our students and expect them to demonstrate responsible behavior. All work should be turned in on the assigned due date. If students are having difficulties with an assignment, please use the emails above to communicate with teachers in advance of due dates, when possible. It should not be assumed that late work will be accepted.

Uniforms and IDs - All McKinley Middle students are expected to be in full and correct uniform at all times. Once student IDs have been distributed to all students, students will be expected to wear their IDs at all times. There are behavioral consequences at McKinley Middle for students who do not wear their uniforms as requested and who do not wear their IDs while on campus. Verbal reminders will be given to students when corrections are needed. Students are expected to correct their appearance when prompted. Temporary IDs and replacement IDs will be available to students as needed.

Technology - Phones are not to be out or in use at McKinley Middle at any time for a student's personal use. Phones should be powered off and silent during the school day and kept in a secure location, as per state law. Smartwatches and AirPods are also not allowed. Wired headphones may be used by students in academic settings with the permission and under the supervision of a teacher. All students at McKinley will be issued a Chromebook and charger. Students should fully charge their Chromebook at home in the evenings so that Chromebooks are fully charged at the beginning of the school day. It should not be assumed that a Chromebook, desktop, or charger will be supplied to students who attend school without a charged Chromebook. Chromebooks and Chromebook chargers should be brought to school each day for use in classrooms.

Bathroom policy - Students will always be able to use the restroom before school, during lunch, during their physical education or dance class, between classes, and at the end of the day. Students should review their schedules to identify multiple times within the school day to use the restroom, and make use of the opportunities provided to them. It should not be assumed that a teacher will allow a student to leave the classroom for restroom needs during instruction. Emergency restroom and/or medical issues accommodations will be respected.
