近年、全国的に外科医不足が問題となっております。これを解決するためには様々な取り組みが必要ですが、若手にとって魅力的な指導者を育成することは、外科志望者を増やし、外科医不足を解決する一案であります。

　私たちは、Faculty Development=指導者の育成をテーマとして、手術教育に情熱のある現役オペレータ、教授、エンジニア、起業家が集まり、2014年よりOff-JTのあり方、教育方法、評価方法などをテーマに厚く議論を重ねてきました。2019年に一般社団法人世界手術教育フォーラムを結成し、松田暉 前代表理事の下、様々な事柄に取り組んで参りました。

　2019年には「指導者の指導法を検証する」をテーマに大動脈弁置換術をwet labで行う際の指導法を検証し、効果的なシチュエーションの設定、ブリーフィングやデブリーフィングの重要性、短い時間でもone to oneの指導を入れた方が満足度が高いなど、指導を行う際の要点に関する提言が作成されました。また若手の論文作成をテーマから完成まで指導する様子をユーチューブで公表しました。さらに2021年に行われました冠動脈外科吻合技術競技会では、当フォーラムでOSATS評価表を基にリアルタイム評価表を作成し、これが用いられました。

　2023年4月より、私が代表理事を務めさせていただくことになりましたが、松田暉前代表の功績に奢ることなく、更に議論を広く、深化させていきたいと思います。より良い医療を提供できるよう、皆様のご協力のもとに指導者の育成に励んで参ります。どうぞよろしくお願いいたします。

 In recent years, there has been a nationwide shortage of surgeons, which has become a significant issue. To address this problem, various initiatives are necessary, and one proposed solution is to cultivate attractive leaders for young aspiring surgeons, which would increase the number of surgical candidates and alleviate the shortage of surgeons. Under the theme of Faculty Development, we have gathered active operators, professors, engineers, and entrepreneurs who are passionate about surgical education. Since 2014, we have engaged in extensive discussions on topics such as the approach and methods of off-job training, educational techniques, and evaluation methods.

 In 2019, we established the World Surgical Education Forum as a nonprofit organization and made progress under the leadership of former Director Matsuda Hikaru. We focused on "examining the teaching methods of instructors" and verified the instructional methods during the performance of aortic valve replacement surgery in the wet lab. Our recommendations included effective situation settings, the importance of briefing and debriefing, and the higher satisfaction achieved through one-to-one instruction, even within a short time frame. We also shared on YouTube the process of guiding young researchers from the theme selection to the completion of their papers.

 Furthermore, during the Coronary Artery Surgical Anastomosis Technique Competition held in 2021, we created a real-time evaluation form based on the OSATS assessment sheet developed by our forum, which was utilized in the competition.

 Starting from April 2023, I have been appointed as the new Director, and I am determined to continue and expand the discussions without resting on the achievements of former Director Matsuda. With your support, I will strive to develop leaders in the field of surgery, aiming to provide better healthcare. Thank you for your cooperation, and I look forward to working with you.
