Cedar Lake Cemetery

On Cedar Lake Road, South of M-46

The Cedar Lake Cemetery is approximately 3.5 acres and contains over 320 known graves. The earliest known burial dates back to 1881. About 90% of the graves are marked with a marker of some kind.

The presumed oldest grave is Harry Henshaw Pierce in 1881. Family history says he was buried here but there is no record or headstone to verify, however, one of his six children was also buried there. There is also some nameless markers next to the road, he could be one of them.

The oldest confirmed graves belong to Ellen and Claudie Ladgrow, 1882 and 1884 respectively.

Each year local students from the area church help with raking leaves in the fall. The cemetery is maintained (sextons) currently by Nita and Dick Retzloff. Ownership of this private cemetery is currently with the Retzloff family through the Cedar Lake Cemetery Association of Lakeland, Florida.
