~ The story of my career in education. ~
C - Coming to the Wall Lake Community School District in the fall of 1989 to teach 5th Grade is where my career began. When we became WLVA I moved to the middle school in the upstairs of the Wall Lake building to teach middle school math.
A - After 10 years in the district, I took a position in the Carroll Community School District. There I taught 7-12 Family & Consumer Science, 6th Grade Entrepreneurship, 9-12 Health and PK-12 English as a Second Language.
R - Right after I completed my Masters Degree I decided to explore career opportunities in higher education. First, at Iowa State University I served as a County Extension Education Director for youth and adults. Then I was a Regional Director and Teacher Education Coordinator for Buena Vista University.
E - Early in 2019 I made it full circle as I returned to the East Sac County Community School District at the Wall Lake Elementary Building to teach SDI, Specially Designed Instruction. That fall I had the pleasure of joining the 2nd Grade Team and remaineded in that position as the Wall Lake Elementary closed and for the next two years as we merged into the Sac City Elementary Building.
E - English as a Second Language Coordinator/Teacher and Middle School Reading Interventionist are my current positions. I also serve as a PK-6 Curriculum Adoption Coordinator & New Teacher Cohort Leader in the Sac Elementary/Middle School.
R - Recalling the careers on my educational path reminds me of my continuous curiosity for learning and teaching, as well as the passion I have for the variety of opportunities in the field of education! I love what I do and am privileged to be a part of the community of learners at the East Sac County Community School District!
