We work through 4 Units during the school year. An Initial unit, An Informational Text Unit, A Narrative Unit, and and Argumentative Text Unit.
Unit 1 / Literacy Launch
This unit focuses on reviewing literary elements . During this unit, students will become a community of readers and writers.

Unit 2 / Human Body
This unit will focus on Informational Text. Students will complete a final project, including making an informational text of their own.

Unit 3 / Greek and Roman Mythology
This unit will be our Narrative Unit. Our focus will be on literary elements, primarily theme. Students will end this unit with writing their own short story or picture book.

Unit 4 / Civil Rights
This unit is our Argumentative Text Unit. We will explore the Civil Rights Era, focusing on the people that shaped this era. Students will create a biography about a Civil Rights leader to wrap up this unit.
