Throughout the year, we'll be exploring the historical developments in medieval and early modern history. The period of time we study stretches from the "fall" of Rome through the European Renaissance (476 AD - 1500s). We will also be learning about our world today by researching, discussing and sharing current events through our United Nations project. Throughout the year we will have several overarching goals (or, 'big ideas') that will frame our work & learning:
Multiple Perspectives: We will understand how people in the past saw and experienced events in different ways.
History = MYstory: We will understand how history, geography, culture, and economic activities of the past can help us better understand our own stories.
The 3 T’s of History (Tools, Techniques, and Terminology): We will understand how to work, talk, and think like historians.
Media Literacy: We will understand how to ‘read’ and evaluate primary and secondary sources in order to develop and share informed opinions about what has happened and what is happening in our world.
Learners as Creators: We will share what we learn in authentic ways that deepen our learning and strengthen our citizenship skills
