In addition to the common core, our district supplements using materials from Fountas and Pinnell, Heggrety, and Fundations. We use a balanced literacy approach to reading. This includes shared reading, guided reading, independent reading, decodable texts and read alouds.
In writing, we use Lucy Calkins Units of Writing. The students will explore opinion, informational, and narrative writing.
