I am a dedicated high school Spanish teacher with nearly 20 years of experience in fostering a love for the Spanish language and culture in my students. I hold two Master's degrees in Education and I am passionate about creating an inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and creativity. Outside of teaching, I enjoy watching ‘fútbol’ soccer, traveling, working out, as well as volunteering in different community projects in the Lehigh Valley and abroad. My commitment to student growth and my enthusiasm for learning have made me a valued mentor both inside and outside the classroom.
Current Courses
Spanish 1 SNS is designed for students who were born in Latin America or for Hispanic/Latino students who were born in the U.S. and want to improve their speaking, writing, listening, and reading skills. The class will be taught in Spanish and students will be exposed to authentic materials to practice and master their skills in Spanish. Also, grammar will be taught in practiced in context with verb conjugations to practice spelling. Students are expected to use Spanish in class at all times.
Students in Spanish 2 will continue to build on the communicative foundation established in Spanish 1 and will produce meaningful and comprehensible (target) language. Students are expected to use Spanish as much as possible in the classroom. Current information on Hispanic culture will be presented throughout every phase of language learning.
Prerequisite: Recommended 70% or better in Spanish 1
The purpose of this course is to enhance the 4 language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing; and at the same time to make connections to Spanish-speaking countries and their cultures, as well as other disciplines and subjects. Additionally, this course will prepare students to take the Spanish AP Exam administered by College Board®. This is a college-level course and therefore expect the work to be challenging throughout the year.
Prerequisite: Recommended 80% or better in Spanish 4H or SNS 2.
