Meet Mrs. Smith

Welcome to ELD! 

I am Nicole Smith and I am excited to work with our Multilingual Learners. I have been teaching for 18 years. This is my 9th year teaching in East Penn. I have been teaching at Macungie for 3 years. Previously I taught at LMMS for 6 years. Before teaching in East Penn I taught in the Allentown Diocese, Allentown School District, and Hamburg Area School District. I have taught ESL/ELD for 12 years and the other 6 years were split between 5th and 2nd grades. 

When I went back for my ESL certification in 2010 I knew I found my true teaching passion! I am glad I can make a career out of working with culturally and linguistically diverse families in our district. 

I grew up in Nazareth Pennsylvania. I attended DeSales University for my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education (2008). I received my ESL certification in 2010. I also received my Masters Degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other languages in 2014) from DeSales. 

I am married to my husband Scott and reside in Macungie with our 11-year-old twins Jaxson and Jocelyn and our 13-year-old dog Kona. 

I am the world's largest Disney fan. In my spare time, I like to travel (especially to Disney and OCNJ). I love coffee and finding new coffee shops to try.  I also enjoy reading, walking, cooking, history, and learning about new places and cultures.
