Meet Mrs. Sopko

Tina Sopko is an enthusiastic second-grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary School, who takes pride in guiding her students through their educational journey. Mrs. Sopko has a passion for reading, and she loves sharing that joy with her students, helping them develop a lifelong love of books.

Mrs. Sopko is a graduate of West Chester University and has experience teaching all grades, kindergarten through fourth grade.

Outside the classroom, Mrs. Sopko enjoys singing and spending quality time with her family at the beach.

My Current Courses

In second grade, we tackle a variety of subjects throughout the three trimesters. The outline below provides a quick summary of each subject.

Fundations

Fundations is a structured literacy program designed to teach foundational reading, spelling, and handwriting skills to students in grades K-3, primarily focusing on phonemic awareness, phonics, word study, and handwriting through a multisensory approach, with the goal of preventing reading difficulties by building a strong base for decoding and spelling abilities

Ready Math

Ready Math in second grade focuses on building a strong foundation in core mathematical concepts like addition, subtraction, place value, measurement, geometry, and basic fractions. It is delivered through a structured, teacher-led approach with a variety of activities to engage students and promote conceptual understanding through real-world problem-solving.

ELA

Students receive small and large group reading instruction.
Students learn to write in the narrative, opinion and informational syle of writing

You don't need all of these supplies. We will have some available in the classroom for all students to use.
