Lower Macungie Middle School
Kadie Smith is a dedicated seventh-grade math teacher at Lower Macungie Middle School, where she strives to make math engaging and accessible for every student. A proud graduate of Muhlenberg College (Class of 2005), she began her teaching career in the Perkiomen Valley School District, where she taught across all middle school grade levels. In 2019, she returned to her alma mater and helping students develop their math skills at LMMS ever since.
Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Smith is an active member of the school community as a co-advisor for the LMMS Student Council, helping students take the lead in planning exciting events and activities that bring the school together.
Outside of school, she stays busy with her two children, Ellie and Levi, who also attend East Penn schools. In her free time, Mrs. Smith enjoys traveling, baking, reading, and making cherished memories with her family. In recent summers, they've embarked on adventures across the country in their RV, exploring national parks and discovering the beauty of the great outdoors.
In this course, students will engage in an in-depth exploration of various mathematical concepts, including operations with rational numbers, such as fractions, decimals, and integers. They will work with algebraic expressions, equations, and inequalities to develop problem-solving skills and deepen their understanding of mathematical relationships. Additionally, students will study proportional relationships and learn how to apply percentages in real-world contexts. The course also covers essential topics in geometry, including two- and three-dimensional shapes, angle relationships, and measurements. Finally, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of probability, allowing them to analyze and predict outcomes in different scenarios.
