A proud graduate of Lycoming College and Bowling Green State University, Mrs. Yanovich combines her passion for education with a commitment to helping young minds understand the world and their place in it.
At Emmaus High School, she works alongside her partners, Mrs. Gibson and Mrs. Simpkins, two 10th grade English teachers, creating a well-rounded and inspiring learning environment for students.
When she's not teaching, Mrs. Yanovich enjoys spending time with family, reading, and crocheting. Mrs. Yanovich's favorite author is Stephen King.
In 10th grade English, we tackle a variety of units to study throughout the year. Below are brief outlines of each unit.
In this unit, students will explore themes of the American Dream, family dynamics, pride, racism, and the struggle against discrimination. As we read the play students will analyze character motivations, conflict, and themes portrayed through dialogue and stage directions.
In this unit, students will learn about the pivotal political assassination of Roman ruler, Julius Caesar. Students will examine the motives of the Roman senators and Caesar's closest friends, Cassius and Brutus. Themes of betrayl are are the forefront of this tragedy.
In this unit, students will explore themes of courage, family life, prejudice, justice and racism in the American South during the Great Depression. Students will get a magnified view of a family fighting to be on the right side of the justice system while facing challenges from the local government and prejudiced views.
