We love celebrating birthdays in room 313! In the past, many students have been involved with a monthly celebration within their classroom. We celebrate on the day or as close to the day as we can. We want to make sure your child feels special on their big day!
Stay tuned for more information!
Students will have a daily snack. It is typically a "working snack", where they eat their snacks as they learn. Please feel free to send in a daily (NUT-FREE) snack, but try to keep it healthy! Candy is discouraged. Also, if your child brings in yogurt, applesauce, or something requiring a spoon, please try to send in a spoon for them to use. I don't always have them in my classroom. Thank you!
The classrooms in Willow Lane are nut-free. If your child brings in a snack that has nuts or peanut butter, I will have to ask him or her to put it away. If I notice that they bring in a snack containing nuts more than once, I will send you a note to remind you that we can't have nut products in the classroom. This is for the wellness of all of our students. We also certainly don't want anyone to be hungry!
If your child is out sick, please send in a note indicating that he or she is sick. This can also be done in an email. The office is keeping a strict count of the number of student absences, more so than in years past. I will forward any emails or notes to the front office letting them know that your child is sick. Don't be surprised if you hear from the office asking for a note if one was not sent in.
Furthermore, if your child is out sick, I will gather their missed assignments for them. You can choose to either: a) Send the work home with a buddy, b) Send the work to the office to be picked up, or c) Keep the work in school to be completed upon your child's return to school. Some days get extremely busy when several students are out sick, so I always do the best I can to get it all together. My apologies if the work doesn't end up coming home that day. Most assignments will be available to your child via Google Classroom. Feel free to look on there first, assuming your child is feeling well enough to work!
If your family is going away on a vacation, please fill out the vacation form on the district website and send it in as soon as you can. (Link to vacation form) Dr. Moyer typically looks at it right away, and one of our administrative assistants will send home an electronic communication confirming acceptance of the vacation request. Please note that vacation time will not be approved during PSSA testing weeks.
