Eyer Middle School
Mrs. Paukovits is a math teacher at Eyer Middle School, where she brings her love of math and happy go lucky personality to the classroom. She is a proud graduate of Bloomsburg University (Undergraduate) and Wilkes University(graduate). With more than 2 decades of teaching experience Mrs. Paukovits finds each year just as exciting as the last. Her favorite part of the whole teaching experience is getting to know the students and hopefully helping them to develop some of the love that she has for her subject area.
Outside the classroom, Mrs. Paukovits keeps busy with all the activities that her two daughters are involved in. She enjoys shopping (I love fashion and accessorizing!), reading, swimming, taking walks, and snuggling with our dog, Waffles.
Some of my favorite things include: Target, Donuts, Chocolate, soft pretzels, Hershey Park, all things Disney, the Eagles (Go Birds!), and shoes!!!
Since I love math so much, I am the only lucky one at Eyer to teach all three grade levels!!!
Course 1 is a general math Course. We will explore GCF,LCM, fractions, and decimals. In algebra, we will learn one step equations, distributive property and simplifying expressions. We will work with area formulas, discover equivalent ratios, and end the year with analyzing and graphing data.
Course 2, think pre-algebra concepts. We start with integers and quickly evolve into equations and inequalities. Ratios, rates and percents follow as our 2nd large unit and then Geometry formulas and angles with algebra rounds out our largest 3rd unit. We will discuss probability and build upon data discussions from 6th grade to close out the year.
Coures 3, think Algebra 1 Concepts. To start we continue to build upon solving equations from 7th grade. We evolve into linear equations with slope, intercepts and graphing lines. We learn the first two methods of systems of equations. Soon after we discuss functions and scatterplots. From there we head into exponent rules, the real number system, pythagorean theorem, and transformations to close out our year.
I have plenty material on hand in the classroom. But these are some items I suggest to help you be successful.
Supplies:
Plenty of pencils - some for school and some to keep at home
Think about replenishing at the end of each quarter
A folder or section of a binder specifically for math class
Calculator - not required, but will be nice to have - TI 34 Multiview preferred
Classroom Donations: (always accepted, never expected)
Tissues
Hand wipes
Everything Class related (Homework, iReady, etc.) can be found on my Schoology page.
