What should you expect?
Math:
Our math series is titled, Ready Math. This program will have your child problem solve and builds both rigor and total student engagement, while having fun!
Instruction encourages student discourse and problem solving in the real world!
We also strongly encourage math fact fluency! This year we will be using Fact Monster and Reflex to help our students boost their learning capabilities and reach fact proficiency!
Addition practice for some skills: Clock practice
Reading:
As your child becomes more of an independent reader, they will learn how to perform close reading activities to activate their comprehension and SOAR to new heights!
We will be an amazing set of guided reading, interactive read alouds and shared reading books from Fountas and Pinnel. These books are highly engaging and tiered to your child's reading levels. m
It is recommended that your child READ at least 20 minutes per night for the beginning of the year then 30 minutes per night for the second half of the year.
Writing:
We will be separating our writing into three different units of study: Personal Narrative, Information, Persuasive. These writing units will take place during each of our trimesters.
Social Studies:
Science: STEELS
