Meet Mr. Cari

I am currently in my 31st year of education. I spent my first year as a substitute teacher, earning a long-term sub position at Eyer Junior High School.  I taught for one year at Boyertown East Middle School as a 7th-9th grade reading teacher. I was then hired by the East Penn School District and spent two years at Emmaus Junior High School teaching 8th grade language arts, and 9th grade journalism. I was part of the team that helped open Lower Macungie Middle School in 1998. In those 27 years, I have taught 7th and 8th grade language arts, before switching to my current role as a 7th grade reading teacher this year. 

My wife and I have been married for 28 years and we have four children - three boys and one girl. We live in Emmaus and my three youngest children all attend or attended the East Penn School District. My oldest daughter graduated from Allentown Central Catholic in 2018 and from Temple University specializing as a Social Media Coordinator. My second child graduated from Emmaus High School and also attended Temple University. He now serves as the detail manager for Ciocca Volkswagen. My second daughter is a recent graduate of Emmaus High School. She was a three-time state champion in field hockey for Emmaus, and was the 2024 Atlhlete of the Year. She currently attends the College of William and Mary and is a member of their field hockey team. My youngest is a sophomore at Emmaus High School. We also have two pugs, Frank and Mike.

Among my East Penn ties, I am a 1989 alumnus of Emmaus High School, where I was a two-time district champion as a member of the Green Hornet soccer team. From there, I completed my BA in English and a BA in Communications in 1994 from La Salle University. In 2000, I received my Masters of Science from Lehigh University.  

For the past 20 years, I have been the boys' soccer coach at Emmaus High School. Over that time our team has won 10 conference, and 9 district titles. Our success has placed me as the winningest active soccer coach in the state of Pennsylvania.

Throughout my time as a member of the East Penn School District, I have served as the MS English department chair, team leader, varsity head track coach, JV boys' soccer coach, student council advisor, and success team member, and have worked various sporting events for both the high school and middle school

The spare time I do have is spent supporting my daughter and traveling to her games. I also enjoy all forms of media and have also formally been a member of the Lehigh Valley Area Trivia championship team.
