Emmaus High School
Welcome! I’m Mr. Kollar, a dedicated educator with over 25 years of experience teaching math and technology education. Outside the classroom, I’m the Set Designer and Build Crew advisor for Emmaus High School’s drama department, where I bring creativity and problem-solving to the stage. Family is at the heart of everything I do—I met my wife in high school, and together we’ve built a wonderful life in Pennsylvania with our two children. Teaching, building, and inspiring curiosity are my passions, both in and out of the classroom.
This course gives considerable attention to developing an understanding of the nature of deductive proof, the role of definitions and the meanings and uses of assumptions in writing proofs. Students are encouraged to think of geometry as a system requiring logic of thought as opposed to a less precise system based only upon observation and measurement. This course includes the study of both plane and solid figures.
Utilizing a design thinking framework, students will learn the essentials of product design and problem-solving. Students will be faced with three design challenges and will use design thinking to make an improvement for our community, create a tangible product based on the needs of others, and solve a community problem of their choice. While progressing through the design process, students will work closely with community needs in mind and will continually hone their organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, their creative and problem solving abilities, and their understanding of the design process.
The Stage Design course introduces students to a variety of “behind the scenes” activities as they learn to integrate set design, construction, painting, lighting, sound, special effects, and stage management for stage performances. Teamwork and collaboration will be emphasized in all aspects of technical theater, specifically with respect to set change choreography. Course content includes scale drawing and modeling, set construction techniques, scenic painting, sound and light board operation, and lighting design. Safety will be emphasized and practiced on stage and in the scene shop.
We will have some available in the classroom for all students to use. Rulers, calculators, tape, and paper handouts will be provided.

You can always email me with questions, but the best way to see what we're doing in class is to check Schoology for classwork, notes, assessment dates, and homework assignments. Check PowerSchool for current grades.
This is my primary means of communication. I Post all assignments and assessment dates. This the the best place to look to see what you missed and need to complete if you are absent.
This is my primary means for posting grades. I periodically sync the grades collected from Schoology. PowerSchool if the official grade.
Check out our Family Tech Resources Website! The purpose of this site is to provide both students and families of the East Penn School District resources on the technology they are using in the classroom. Some of the resources are created by East Penn, while others may be created by the companies themselves.
