Children not taking bus transportation should not arrive at school before 8:45AM. Children should go directly home after school is dismissed. When other arrangements are made by the parents, a note of explanation must be sent to the child’s teacher.
Please drop off and pick-up students in the designated area. If you arrive later than 9:00 AM, you must enter the building with your child and sign him/her in at the office.
If your child is going to be picked up early because of scheduled appointments, please send a note to school with information about the date, time, and person coming for the child.
**Pick up notes must be sent to school with your child on the day of pick up; otherwise, children will be sent home on their regular bus. Please bear in mind that the end of the day is very hectic, prior notice and a note will be needed.
When arriving, please follow the signs posted and any directions provided by staff members present. For the safety of everyone involved, only students may exit vehicles, and they must open and close their own car doors. Additionally, please wait for any vehicles in front of you to depart before pulling forward, and never drive around other vehicles.
During morning drop off, please follow the direction of the Macungie staff that are in the parking lot. All cars must enter the campus using Fairview Street, off of Route 100. Cars may NOT enter the school campus from Brookside Road. Cars will travel towards Macungie Elementary, turn right into the parking lot and then students will exit the vehicle from the DRIVER side by the handicapped parking spaces. Driver’s must observe the 10mph speed limit and refrain from cell phone usage while in line. For safety reasons, car riders are only allowed to unload from cars waiting in the designated Drop Off/Pickup Safety Zone. Children should be ready to exit their cars when they reach the Drop Off/Pickup Safety Zone. Say your goodbyes before your turn to unload. This will keep the cars moving. Children should be able to get out of their cars without help from their parents. Parents must remain inside their cars. Staff will escort students across the bus arrival area. Vehicles will then turn right and exit onto Brookside Road.
Adults picking up students at 3:20 may NOT exit their vehicles. All cars must enter the campus using Fairview Street, off of Route 100. Cars may NOT enter the school campus from Brookside Road. Cars will travel towards Macungie Elementary, turn right into the parking lot and wait for their student. Driver’s must observe the 10mph speed limit and refrain from cell phone usage while in line. The school issued student placard should be placed on the dashboard as you approach the pick-up area. Staff will use the placard to call into the building and have students exit the building. If you do not have your Macungie Pick-up Placard, you will be asked to park your car and you must show ID to the school personnel that come to provide assistance. If there is a change in routine, you must contact the main office. To maximize instructional time, children will not exit the building for dismissal until 3:20 PM. Staff will escort students across the bus pick up area. Students will then enter the waiting vehicle on the DRIVER side. Vehicles will turn right and exit onto Brookside Road.
When extreme weather conditions exist, schools may be closed, starting times delayed, and/or early dismissals may be necessary. The decision for closings and for late starts will be made and broadcast on radio station WAEB (AM 790) and on television – Channel 69, by 6:30AM. Early dismissals will be broadcast on these stations also. Please do not call the district or building administration.
Please make sure that the “Early Dismissal Emergency Plan” has been completed accurately and is on file at school so that we know how to dismiss your child if there is an early dismissal. School personnel will not be making phone calls.
You may log onto wfmz.com/stormcenter for dismissal information.
