The East Penn School District uses the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to help students achieve success. We screen all students three times a year to make sure they are working on grade-level in reading and math. The assessments help us identify students in need of support.
At the middle school, one of the ways we offer math support is through a class called Math Standards. In Math Standards, students receive small group instruction tailored to their learning needs. This class directly ties to their current math class and the math teachers utilize specific reports to pre-teach lessons in order to help build capacity during their math course.
Another way we support students is through Reading Seminar class. Our Reading Seminar class supports students’ academic success in literacy through research-based interventions. In Reading Seminar, students grow their stamina, fluency, and comprehension in guided reading groups, word study, and/or a combination of other interventions. Interventions are determined after careful assessment and analysis by the support team.
Your child qualifies for one or both of these supports. Please review their schedule to see which classes have been scheduled and feel free to view these videos explaining our process, how the schedule works for each class, and, how we will communicate progress with you.
