Class Overview:
This course includes an in-depth study of language arts skills focused on writing proficiency in the main writing modes: narrative, informative, and argumentative. Students will also study grammar throughout the year, ensuring that students not only understand grammatical rules, but also apply them effectively in their writing. Research skills and speaking skills will also be developed as they are needed for everyday communication.
Where are we now?
We are about to start unit 1: Tools for Writers.
This will involve a review of parts of speech and the writing process.
In this unit's final product, students will show a culmination of their writerly tools by moving through the writing process to create a descriptive essay about a place that is important to them.
