Willkommen in Deutsch 1! Welcome to German 1!
Please bring Papier (paper) and a Bleistift (pencil) or Kuli (pen) each day. We'll use our Chromebooks in class on occasion, but communication is our goal, so we'll be working together to practice our German much more frequently.
Respekt (respect) is extremely important for our classroom. We will all be using German to talk about ourselves: our families, our likes and dislikes, our hobbies, etc., and therefore, respecting each others' differences is important. Similarly, each of us will learn German and its pronunciation at different rates, so put-downs will not be tolerated.
We will complete 6 chapters in our textbook, and there will be a test after each chapter in addition to the quizzes, projects and other assessments we complete during the chapter. At the end of each quarter, we will also have a skills-based assessment that includes information from the entire quarter. The quarterly assessment may replace the chapter test if time doesn't allow for both.
If every you're having difficulty in class (academically or socially), please see me as soon as possible. The sooner I know, the quicker we can come up with a plan.
Use of Target Language Rubric We will use this rubric twice a marking period to assess your German speaking. Keine Panik! No worries! You are just beginning your studies of German, and the rubric will be used in a way that acknowledges your newbie status!
