Class Description
This course is designed to develop an understanding of the requirements and responsibilities of a licensed driver.
Students are made aware of the safe and responsible uses of a vehicle.
Students may receive an insurance discount after satisfactory completion of Driver Education and Driver Training.
Students may also be eligible to take the Pennsylvania Driver Licensing test as part of Driver Training.
Goals
To develop an understanding of the driving process
To develop the proper attitude for driving safely and responsibly
Requirements
Driver Education is a semester course that meets every other day in a six-day cycle
Missed work/tests due to tardiness or an absence is the responsibility of the student
Pennsylvania requires students to complete thirty hours of Driver Education in order to participate in Drivers Training. Thirty hours of Drivers Education is equivalent to being absent from class THREE or LESS times. Students WILL have the opportunity to make up classes at the end of the semester if they miss more than three classes.
Grading
The quarter grades will be the accumulation of points for each assessment divided by the number of points possible.
The grade for the year will be based on the following:
Quarter 1 = 40%
2. Quarter 2 = 40%
3. Exam= 20%
