Welcome Video : Just a quick hello & a little bit about art assignments. Remember, your distance learning weekly art assignments should be a fun and creative outlet for you. If you are feeling stressed by them, pick something else to do with your creative energy, or just send me an email or a FlipGrid to say hi!
The Paper Dragon - Read Aloud : This is one of my all-time favorite children's books (for grown ups too!) about an artist, community, courage, tradition, love, and a dragon! Robert Sabuda illustrates this story with his beautiful cut paper collage technique.
Ocean Week - Schools of Fish : a quick look at some of the fish we create in art class using a wax-resist technique by painting a black water-based paint over colored pencil & crayon. Sometimes it's hard to transform our beautiful, bright fish designs and paint over them with the darkest color in our palette, but the results are usually pretty exciting.
Animal Week - Cool Llama : a quick tutorial on how to draw a "cool" llama (hint: it's all about the shades). Then we decorate the background using some fun & colorful variations of line. Make it your own!
Animal Week - Draw a (Blue) Dog : Inspired by George Rodrigue's Blue Dog series, I follow the steps published on www.artprojectsforkids.org to create my own blue dog and orange dogs. I am using pencil, oil pastel, and crayon. You can use whatever medium you prefer or have available at home! Have fun & be creative!!!
One Silver Second - Read aloud : This is a book I've carried with me since my childhood. You can tell when you see the worn out corners in the video. This "fable for all ages" teaches the age old lesson "be careful what you wish for" and the importance of peace.
Melted Crayon Raindrop Suncatcher Tutorial: Inspired by a Crayola Craft @ Home project, I attempt to make my own Raindrop Suncatcher. See how mine turned out and try one of your own *with adult supervision. Good Luck!
