Mrs. Brenda Stewart
Easton Area Middle School, School Counselor
Brenda exemplifies the Profile of a Graduate competencies we aim to instill in every student—she is a tireless worker, a skilled communicator, a thoughtful problem-solver, and a collaborative leader. A proud alumna of the Easton Area School District, Brenda has dedicated the past 26 years to serving our students and families as a school counselor. Her deep-rooted commitment to our community is evident in everything she does.
Whether it's keeping the counseling team informed, making herself available at a moment's notice, or stepping in to navigate complex situations with empathy and professionalism, Brenda consistently models the qualities we hope to see in every graduate. She is truly the face of the EAMS counseling department, and our school would not be what it is today without her unwavering leadership, compassion, and service.
Mr. Jason Hinkle
6th Grade Math and Science Teacher
Mr. Hinkle exemplifies the Profile of a Graduate competencies through his unwavering commitment to supporting every learner. He demonstrates empathy, cultural awareness, and strong communication skills by recognizing and addressing the unique needs of his students—especially his English Language Learners (ELLs). During multiple walkthroughs, I have seen Mr. Hinkle use a translating app to bridge language barriers, ensuring his ELL students feel heard, understood, and included. In a particularly moving example, he delivered an entire speech in Spanish during an assembly to honor a student receiving an award. This act not only showcased his respect for the student’s cultural identity but also modeled global citizenship and inclusive leadership for the entire school community.
Dr. Kelsey McLeod
Pediatrician at St. Luke's Anderson Pediatrics
Dr. Kelsey McLeod is a proud Easton Area High School alumna and a living example of the Profile of a Graduate competencies in action. Now an ambulatory pediatrician at St. Luke’s Anderson Pediatrics, Dr. McLeod brings empathy, cultural awareness, and a deep sense of purpose to her work, with a passion for advocacy in injury prevention and nutrition.
Born to immigrant parents from Guyana—a country facing one of the highest infant mortality rates in the Caribbean—Dr. McLeod’s commitment to children’s health began at a young age. After moving to the Lehigh Valley from New York City, she found her home in Easton, where she attended school from elementary through high school, graduating as valedictorian of the Easton Area High School Class of 2010.
A first-generation college student, Dr. McLeod demonstrated remarkable resilience and critical thinking throughout her academic journey. She earned her undergraduate degree with Honors from Columbia University, followed by her medical degree from the Donald & Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. During medical school, she modeled global citizenship and leadership through her involvement with the Student National Medical Association, mentoring underrepresented minority students and publishing a peer-reviewed literary review in the Journal of the SNMA.
Dr. McLeod completed her Pediatrics residency at Cohen Children’s Medical Center in New York, where she received multiple accolades for research, clinical excellence, and humanism. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she served on the front lines caring for pediatric patients and was named Best Intern of the Year. She also pioneered firearm injury prevention curricula, a project that began in medical school and evolved into system-wide programming for the Northwell Health Center for Gun Violence Prevention.
Today, Dr. McLeod continues to inspire future medical professionals by mentoring pediatric residents and precepting fourth-year medical students as an adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. A strong communicator and compassionate leader, she has returned to serve the Easton community that helped shape her path, modeling what it means to be a lifelong learner and servant leader.
