The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in English, Mathematics, Reading and Science. Each section on the ACT has a score range from 1 to 36. The score for each subject area test is averaged together in order to determine the Composite ACT score, again the highest possible Composite ACT score is a 36. The ACT Plus Writing examination includes the four subject area tests plus a 30-minute Writing Test. The Writing test score is then combined in a 1/3 to 2/3 ratio with the student's English subject test to come up with a Combined English/Writing score. This score is separate from the Composite ACT score and is reported as such on the score report. As with the SAT students are encouraged to take this test in the spring of their Junior year. While EAHS does not provide any specific programs to assist students in preparing for the ACT, through an agreement with Kaplan Test Prep students may have the opportunity to sign up for practice ACT tests at points during the school year. Interested students should pay attention for any announcements or flyers regarding these opportunities.
*A late fee will be applied to any late registrations

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (offered in October) is a practice test for the SAT that students are encouraged to take during the fall of their Junior year. The feedback that is provided to students after taking this test assists with identifying strengths and weaknesses in each area that can then be used as a starting point in preparing for the SAT. Students who take the test in their Junior year are also entered into the National Merit Scholarship Corporation competition which provides an opportunity to receive recognition and/or scholarship awards. Students can also elect to receive information from prospective colleges when they complete the PSAT/NMSQT. Students must register in the EAHS Guidance Office for the PSAT/NMSQT. Sophomores (10th Graders) have an opportunity to take the PSAT 10 in the Spring of their 10th grade year.
The SAT is the standardized college admissions test that is put out by the College Board organization. We encourage all college bound students to take the SAT at least two times in the spring of their Junior year, though students can take the test more often if they wish to try to improve their scores. Students can take part in after school SAT prep programs held at EAHS leading up to the testing dates, information on registering for this program can be obtained in the 11th Grade Level Office. Interested students should pay attention for any announcements or flyers regarding these opportunities.
*A late fee will be applied to any late registrations
