Easton Area High School - Class of 2024
Easton Area High School currently offers Career and Technical Education programs with some of those programs falling under the Pennsylvania Department of Education SOAR (Students Occupationally and Academically Ready) initiative. SOAR is built on programs of study that incorporate secondary education and post-secondary education elements and include coherent and rigorous content. These career and technical programs of study include statewide articulation agreements that allow students to earn college credit for program completion. Students choosing to pursue one of these programs will be required to take a national examination in the spring of their senior year.
The three SOAR programs of study offered at EAHS are:
Accounting
Administrative Assistant
Engineering Technologies
The Diversified Occupation program is also an approved career and technical program. If you have further questions regarding any of these programs, please see your Guidance Counselor or program instructor.
Career Institute of Technology (CIT) is an extension of Easton Area High School. Therefore, the number of programs being offered there enables an increase in the number of course selections for our students. Students who select the career programs may do so for a period of one, two or three years in 10th, 11th and/or 12th grades. Special circumstances enable student in 9th grade to attend. All programs provide instruction during a half-day schedule.
Career programs are designed to help student acquire the skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to secure employment. Although many of the students who take a career program will enter the world of work upon graduation, approximately 50% of the students who complete their program seek higher education. This is possible with advanced planning and carefully balancing course selections. CIT has advanced placement agreements with colleges and technical trade schools that qualify as Tech Prep. Programs. The quality and quantity of what is learned is determined by the time and effort applied. Students are encouraged to research their career plans by reading related information, reviewing and discussing their plans with their counselor and their parent(s).
To learn more about the programs that CIT has to offer, please visit CIT's YouTube Channel and watch the promotional videos. CIT has a Facebook Page, which can be accessed here.
Students interested in attending the CIT can complete it online here.
