Students may take classes offered by Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) at the high school level. Several classes are offered in the high school classrooms; other classes can be taken online. In order for a student to take a KCKCC college course they must complete a dual enrollment form (shown below or a student may obtain it from the counselor's office). Students must speak with the counselor about what college classes they would like to take and obtain permission from the principal after meeting the admission guidelines outlined below. The cost of the class and the textbooks are the responsibility of the student and their family. Currently the cost per credit hour is about $87. Most classes are three credits each making the cost of the class approximately $261. Textbook prices vary.
Students are able to take college classes on campus at the University of St. Mary. It's a great experience to see what it is like to go to college on campus and take classes in a classroom with a professor. Students must be on track to graduate for this opportunity. Please speak with the counselor if you are interested.
Here is the enrollment form for students. Please note when students select courses, it will show a course fee for some classes. This is usually in lieu of a textbook and we cannot discount that fee for high school students but the $87 per credit is a good discount for the courses. Most classes are three credits each making the cost of a class approximately $261 plus the costs of textbooks. The cost of taking a college class is the responsibility of the student and their family.

Junior and senior students who are interested in pursuing a technical degree or certification have the opportunity to attend Highland Community College Technical Center (HCCTC) for tuition free. Students must be on track to graduate and have permission of the school for this opportunity. Students attend HCCTC classes for three periods in the afternoon. Transportation is currently provided to the technical center for students. The cost of additional tools or supplies beyond the tuition is the responsibility of the student and their family.
Following is the flyer explaining the programs and the application process students must complete. The application process includes a visit to HCCTC (school schedules this in the spring), qualifying Work Keys scores (offered at the high school or HCCTC), a short essay, one outside recommendation, and two teacher recommendations. Students must also complete an admissions enrollment form to be admitted to the college.
Students are able to take tuition free online classes through Highland Community College. Below is the offerings for this year. Students need to make arrangements with the counselor and obtain principal permission to allow time in their high school schedule for these classes.
