I am excited to start my twelfth year at OA and my 22nd year teaching. I teach Chemistry I (college prep and honors) and AP Chemistry.
I grew up in Rhode Island, studied Philosophy and Chemistry at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. I earned an M.S. in Chemistry at UMass Boston and an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology and Educational Leadership program at Bridgewater State University. After college, I expected to become a bench chemist or go to law school. Instead, I decided to spend a year volunteer teaching on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona. I loved teaching and enjoyed the challenge and energy I found when working with students. I spent the next nine years teaching at Stoughton High School before coming to OA.
Some of my interests outside school are sailing, skiing, traveling, news and current events, history, computers, reading (mostly nonfiction), photography, hiking, and astronomy.
It's easiest to contact me by e-mail (ckoutros@easton.k12.ma.us). Students, try to talk to me in class instead of using email. Avoid using private messages on Google Classroom because I do not get notifications about them.
