Welcome to AP American Government and Politics.  I am glad you have accepted the challenge to experience an in-depth study of what makes the American political system work.  It will be a year of discovery, discussion, debate, and perhaps even a little drama as we confront fundamental questions about American democracy in the 21st century, such as:  Who has power? How do they acquire and wield it?  For what purpose?  Is the American democratic system fair and effective?  How can it be improved?  How can we, as American citizens, get involved in the political process to improve our lives?
