Good evening ELPS Families,
I hope that this email finds all of you enjoying a fun and restful summer.
As we enter the month of August tomorrow, I want to update our families on some of the work going on this summer here in ELPS that will result in new ways for families to connect to their children’s schools and have easier access to their student’s information.
During the second half of the 2022 - 2023 school year, ELPS began transitioning from one Student Information System to another Student Information System. A Student Information System is a software system that allows a school district to digitally organize and manage all of the student and staff information and data in order to more efficiently conduct its daily operations. Starting in the 2023 - 2024 school year, ELPS will be using PowerSchool as its Student Information System. This transition has been a comprehensive, almost monumental, endeavor, beginning with the moving of all student and staff information along with historical data into PowerSchool and starting the training of ELPS staff in the new system for all daily procedures. We are excited about the new system and how well the transition has gone so far. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Town IT Department. They have worked tirelessly to support all of the work involved in moving into PowerSchool. Their work behind the scenes, which began earlier in the school year, has enabled all of the other work by ELPS staff to take place successfully.
As we look to open the new school year, ELPS families, now, will update nurse emergency information, annual agreements, and emergency contact information for their students electronically. This information, once entered, will be sent through PowerSchool to your child’s school office. Parents and guardians will need to create an account in PowerSchool. Once the parent/guardian account is created, parents and guardians can link their accounts to their students using the Access IDs and Access Passwords, which will be sent out to families by the Town IT Department in a separate email. Additionally, with the new PowerSchool account set up, people can download an App for use on their phones. Please use the link below to follow step-by-step instructions to set up a PowerSchool account.

The schools currently are finalizing class placement and student schedules. Your child’s school will be sending out information on class placement and student schedules in the very near future.
Please contact us with any questions. I hope that you continue to enjoy your summer.
Best regards,
Gordon Smith
