Basic Skills Instruction (BSI)

• Basic skills instruction is a resource available to all students as needed, for reading and/or math. In this program students are pulled out of the classroom to reinforce necessary skills with a BSI teacher in a small group setting. You would be consulted with before enrolling your student, or dismissing your student, from this program. It is an excellent opportunity for students needing a little extra support and has tremendous results!

I&RS

• The Intervention and Referral Services committee is in place to aid our teachers in accessing resources, interventions, and services for students. When your child’s teacher has a concern, either academic or behavioral, he/she will first consult you, the grade level team, and our Basic Skills staff for suggestions and intervention ideas. Those suggestions and interventions will be attempted and documented for 6-8 weeks.

Drills

• We have 2 drills per month (1 fire drill and 1 safety drill). A note will be sent home in your child's folder after each drill.

Grading Scale

• First grade will be using a traditional report card
