About me
Hello,
My name is Scott Schriver and I am the new Art Teacher at Samuel Mickle School. This is my 11th year as an educator, and I am looking forward to making it the best one yet. I grew up in West Deptford, but now I reside in Elk Township with my wife and daughter. I have a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from The University of the Arts and a Master’s degree in Education from Rowan University. I love live music, Philly sports, and especially Art!
In this Art program we will utilize National Proficiencies and NJ Education Standards to expand our understanding of the arts. Art is a reflection of society, so we will look at the history of art and how it was influenced by culture. Inversely we will discover how Art can influence society as well.
All art is communication. We will learn different art making skills/techniques to help expand our communication toolkit. In class we will experiment with different techniques and materials allowing for a wide range of students the opportunity to become successful lifelong learners.
As an educator, I firmly believe that Art is a subject that can help with the understanding and mastery of any subject taught in school. Therefore, we will bring in influences from Science, Mathematics, Literature, and the society all around us. I will do my best to be a facilitator of learning and success for our students here in East Greenwich!
