The Intervention and Referral Services committee is in place in our building to aid our teachers in accessing resources, interventions, and services for students.
When your child’s teacher has a concern, either academic or behavioral, he/she will first consult you, the grade level team, and our Basic Skills staff for suggestions and intervention ideas. Those suggestions and interventions will be attempted and documented for 6-8 weeks.
Basic Skills
Basic skills instruction for both reading and math is a resource available to all students, as needed. In this program children are pulled out of the classroom to reinforce necessary skills. You would be consulted with before enrolling your student, or dismissing your student, from this program.
Safety Drills
We have two a month (one fire drill and one safety drill)
Birthdays
Birthdays are a very exciting! Although first graders at Jeffrey Clark do not have a celebration with a snack or treat, we will acknowledge your child’s birthday in the classroom. Children are permitted to hand out birthday invitations ONLY if they are inviting every child in the class.
Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support
All staff members are encouraged to hand out Buzz Bucks to students who demonstrate positive behavior. Teachers may reward students for demonstrating this behavior in the bus lanes, in the hallways, during lunch/recess, and in the classroom. Students write their name on the Buzz Bucks and turn the in their homeroom’s “Buzz Bank”. Buzz Bucks are randomly drawn and students may be rewarded after being selected. The Buzz Bucks are also collected in grade level and school-wide bins. Students select an incentive and work to fill the bins in order to earn a school-wide reward. Please pay attention to school calendars for upcoming spirit days rewarding our students for their hard work!
