New this year, we will be using the Fishtank Literacy program. This program is standards-based, and aims to foster critical thinking, reading, and writing. We will be reading various novels throughout the year, starting with Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by by Grace Lin.
The iReady Math classroom is a student-centered environment designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience through math discourse and a try-discuss-connect approach. Students will develop a deeper understanding of content through meaningful conversation about problem solving strategies.
Our science curriculum comes from the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). This is a very hands-on, experiment-driven, and project-based learning approach. We will cover topics such as plant and animal structures, weathering, natural disasters, force and motion, and more.
This year, we will be studying concepts from our Young Citizens program. We will cover concepts relating to the development of New Jersey, what it is like living in New Jersey, and what life is like in the United States.
