A helicopter landed in our back parking lot and classes visited it in order to learn more about aerospace engineering.
We are grateful to Paul Pelletier and Northeast Helicopters from Ellington for the opportunity to connect in class learning to real world application.
Here is an article by Paul on our EGHS/MS and Asnuntuck Community College Partnership.
Here is a wonderful display of the work our students are doing in Advanced Manufacturing 1 & Advance Manufacturing 2

We had the privilege of having a helicopter land on our back soccer field parking lot last week. Thank you to Paul Pelletier for organizing the experience for our MS & HS students to make real world connections to the content they see in their courses!
East Granby Middle and High School students were treated to an amazing performance by the Yale Spizzwinks a cappella singing group Friday November 2nd.
The Spizzwinks are an a cappella singing group of male students from Yale University and are the oldest underclassman a cappella group in the United States, dating back to a first performance in early 1914.
This group performs all over the world and we are very fortunate that the East Granby Creative Arts Council was able to book them for us!
"Dr. Charles and the Board of Education members recognized East Granby High School 12th grader, Devin Stout, for earning and receiving the rank of Eagle Scout. Devin’s project consisted of coordinating a group of individuals to paint the parking lot lines at the East Granby Congregational Church. The project required a lot of manpower; it needed to be mapped out, stencils for the lines to guide the paint roller were made, and cleaning the parking lot before painting the lines needed to be completed. Devin shared that it took him 7 years to earn the 13 badges required to be an Eagle Scout." (BOE minutes 10.22.18)

COMMENDED STUDENTS IN THE 2018 NATIONAL MERIT® SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The principal, Antonio DeMelo, of East Granby High School announced today that Christian J Fagnant, Chloe Gosselin and Jack Tubridy have been named Commended Students in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented by the principal to these scholastically talented seniors.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2019 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2019 competition by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
''The young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," commented a spokesperson for NMSC. "These students represent a valuable national resource;recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."
