Ms. Mithila Afrin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at East Delta University (EDU) . Her scholarly pursuits reflect a deep commitment to contemporary and impactful areas of research, including ELT, ESL/EFL, SLA, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics; multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary studies bridging language, higher education pedagogy, technology/AI, and the intersections of socio-economic development and sustainability studies. She has authored several publications, including Scopus-indexed and Q1-ranked journal article focused on innovative pedagogy and language education to foster strong communication and leadership dynamics in students.
Beyond her academic duties, Ms. Afrin actively drives holistic student development and campus life. She currently serves as the Advisor to the EDU Photography Club, having previously served as a Coordinator for the Directorate of Student Activities and as the Advisor to the EDU Debating Society, which she led to its first national event and national television awards. Furthermore, leveraging her role as an enlisted TV Anchor and News Presenter of Bangladesh Television (BTV), the state-owned national channel, she uniquely bridges academia and industry by offering her top public speaking students of EDU opportunities to host national TV shows, enriching their soft skills, leadership, and career profiles while representing EDU nationally.
Before embarking on her journey at EDU in 2018, she enriched her professional background by teaching at Cox’s Bazar International University as a lecturer, working as an interpreter for Brandix Limited (Sri Lanka) in Comilla EPZ, and training corporate and academic aspirants as an IELTS instructor in Chattogram.
