1. Download the sample folder structure: CommunityName_AllDataTemplate_DDMMMYYYY.kmz
2. Open in Google Earth Pro
3. We will add different types of content into this folder during this session and will also use it in the Direct-to-Digital Session

1. Download base data for N Saskatchewan
2. Go to File menu > Open or Import...
3. Navigate to folder with your data
4. Change data file type to .shp
5. Walk through import wizard and create a new style template for your layer
6. Styling and symbology for these layers can then be adjusted to your preferences

1. Download Panorama_Ridge_Hike.gpx
2. Drag and drop the file into the Places Panel or select File>Open
3. Play the track or view route as a line

1. Download the historic map of Montreal in 1949
2. In Google Earth, zoom to the area around Le Westin, Montreal
3. Click on the Add Image Overlay icon and select the 1949 Montreal Land Use Map
4. Rotate and resize the map to line it up with the Google Earth imagery
   • Use the transparency slider to check alignment
5. Explore land use change in the area using historical map, satellite imagery and street view

1. Open the KML text snippet in the ScreenOverlay_KMLCode.rtf file
2. Download the HistoricLandUse_Legend.png file
3. Edit the text marked “ADD FOLDER PATH” to select the image
   • Example folder path for mac users shown on right in purple
   • For Windows users, see red text for an example
4. Copy the entire text from the KML snippet
5. Paste into My Places in Google Earth

Also download the SimpleCrosshairs_Overlay.kmz file and open in Google Earth to try and other type of screen overlay
