We will continue our Language Arts lessons with reading biographies while looking for text evidence of what good citizens do. We will use text features such as captions and timelines to help students understand the information better. Students will determine the author’s purpose and author’s claim from our selected readings. We will focus on cause and effect since this is still a concept most students are struggling with.
📝 Grammar FocusÂ
This week in grammar students are learning about subject and object pronouns. Subject pronouns are used as the subject of a sentence. Students will determine which subject pronoun works best in the sentence. Object pronouns take the place of an object pronoun. Students will also determine which object pronoun fits into the sentence correctly. Review these with your child this week!
✍️ Writing FocusÂ
This week students will work on opinion writing this week. They will be using Utah Compose to help them as they read a series of articles and form there opinion about if all cars should be flying cars or not. They will form their opinion, use reasons to back up their opinion and create a strong writing piece in Utah Compose.
