At Earlsmead we believe every child should have a voice and the opportunity to contribute to school life. We use the Smart School Council approach to ensure that all pupils can share their ideas, opinions and suggestions, helping to shape decisions that affect them.
Unlike a traditional school council, Smart School Council gives every child the opportunity to participate through regular class discussions, voting and feedback sessions. This inclusive approach ensures that all pupils are represented and that everyone's voice is heard.
Our Student Council act as communication team, leading Smart School Council meetings in their classes and
Through Smart School Council class meetings, children develop important life skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, critical thinking and active citizenship. Pupils learn that their views matter and that they can make a positive difference within their school community.
By involving children in meaningful decision-making, we foster a culture of respect, responsibility and collaboration, helping pupils become confident, engaged and responsible citizens of the future.
Our Head Prefects, Freddie, Chiara, Sudenur and Ilian, have been chosen to represent the school and act as role models for others. They demonstrate our school values every day and take on important responsibilities, including supporting assemblies, welcoming visitors and helping at school events.
Through their role, they develop leadership skills, confidence and a strong sense of responsibility while helping to make our school a positive place for everyone.
Our Deputy Prefects, Haseeb, Zuzanna and Zion, support the Head Prefects and help to lead by example. They take an active role in school life, assisting with events, supporting younger pupils and contributing to the wider school community.
As pupil leaders, they work closely with the Student Council and staff, and also help to promote a positive, respectful and inclusive school community.
Student council aim to meet fortnightly, to discuss pupil feedback, share ideas from classes and plan actions that improve our school community.
