In Science, Year 5 Orange have been learning about Materials and their Properties. Within our topic we have learnt about thermal insulators, investigated materials which are transparent, translucent and opaque.
In one experiment we investigated which materials would create a solution (dissolve) or a suspension (not dissolve) when mixed with water. We investigated using: gravy granules, coffee granules, sugar, salt, sand and chalk. We mixed each material with the same amount of cold water and stirred for the same amount of time. We then observed what happened to each material and recorded our results on a table.
In English, Year 5 Orange took part in a surprise theatre workshop. We were asked to write a unique story about our home, Tottenham.
We wrote imaginative stories about dinosaurs in Lidl and K-Pop stars singing in the park!
Our stories were so amazing that we were asked to visit the story workshop to read our stories in person! The workshop was so impressed with our work, they kept our stories to add to their collection.
In English Year 5 Orange along with the rest of the school, have been reading the classic text, The Jungle Book, by Rudyard Kipling.
To celebrate the work we have been doing, we had a special visitor - Diamond the Boa Constrictor. Within the story there is an evil character, a snake called Kaa. Our visitor, Diamond was nothing like the character from the story and allowed children to stroke and hold him.
