Formative assessment is critical for showing us what students have and have not learned. However, formative data does not always provide clear, actionable steps for determining where students are in their learning and how best to move learning forward.
One way to use formative data more effectively is in conjunction with a quality learning progression, a blueprint for how learning typically develops over time.
In these sessions we will examine how the use of learning progressions can maximize the instructional value of formative assessment data.

Session 1 will examine how progressions connect daily learning targets with long-term expectations.
Thursday, April 7, 2022 (7:00 PM HKT)
Session 2 will focus on implementing rich formative assessment tasks and high quality and evidence-based formative assessment and feedback strategies.
Erma Anderson is a former high school mathematics and physics teacher and Albert Einstein Distinguished Fellow of the United States Senate. She was a Senior Program Officer with the Research Council assisting in the development of the National Science Education Standards and a Christa McAulliffe Fellow with the National Foundation for Improvement of Education. She was a consultant with the Council for Basic Education’s Schools Around the World Project, developing and implementing a protocol and series of professional development experiences that used student work to enhance the teaching and learning of mathematics and science. More recently she has been a consultant with international schools and the AERO Mathematics and Science project.
